What it offers

The S0101 is a 7-inch aluminum layout square supplied with Swanson’s reference booklet. It combines common square, angle-marking and layout functions in a compact tool.

The key buying check

Consider the width of the material you normally mark. A compact square is easy to carry, while a larger layout tool may better suit wider stock.

When to choose another option

You need a long straightedge or a measuring instrument for very small machined parts.

Start with the work you need to do and the equipment you already own. Compare the complete setup cost, including any required accessories, consumables or power source.

Where it fits in your workshop

Keep the square near your marking tools rather than buried in a mixed toolbox. Check reference edges before transferring a mark across a board or assembly.
