What it offers

These 10-inch Cobra water-pump pliers have push-button adjustment and toothed gripping jaws. The listed maximum jaw capacity is 2 inches.

The key buying check

Check the jaw opening and handle size against your work. Toothed gripping surfaces can mark a finish; they are not the same as smooth-jaw pliers.

When to choose another option

You need a nonmarring gripping tool or a calibrated way to tighten a fastener.

Start with the work you need to do and the equipment you already own. Compare the complete setup cost, including any required accessories, consumables or power source.

Where it fits in your workshop

Store the pliers with maintenance tools rather than precision electronics tools. Match the grip to the workpiece and choose a different tool when protecting the surface is the main priority.
